2016-2017 Thunderbird Basketball Signups

 

Signups for 2016-2017 are closed (11/29/2016)

 

Teams in grades 1-12 have now all been formed.  there are no further openings.  Games start 12/5

 

 

Signups for Grades 7-12

 

We will be holding signups for players in grades 7th - 12th on Saturday, November 12th, at Hopewell Jr. High (8200 Cox Road) from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm.

 

Based on prior years experience, we plan to form teams in boys grades 7, 8, 9-10,  11-12.  We plan to have teams for girls in grades 7 and 8.  For girls 9 and up, we will have teams if there is enough interest (if we/you get 8-10 girls to signup in 9-10, or 11-12, we will have a team).

Late Signups on Wednesday 9/14

 

For those who could not make the basketball signups on Saturday or Sunday, we will be holding a makeup on Wednesday 9/14 from 6:30 - 8:00 pm at Hopewell Jr. High (8200 Cox Rd, 45069).  Wear gym attire. (refer to 9/10 & 9/11 announcement for more info)

 

 

Thunderbird Youth Basketball Signups (9/10 & 9/11)

The Lakota ThunderBird Youth Basketball Organization kicks off the 2016-2017 season with sign-ups for boys & girls in grades 1-6 on Saturday, September 10th at Liberty Jr. High (7055 Dutchland Parkway).  New this year, we have added boys 1st grade.  A skills-assessment will be held as follows:

6th Grade                  8:30-9:00 am               11:00-12:15 pm

5th Grade                  9:00-9:30 am                12:15-1:30 pm      

4th Grade                  9:30-10:00 am              1:30-2:45 pm

2nd & 3rd Grade    10:00-10:30am              2:45-4:00 pm

1st Grade                 (no girls first grade)     2:45-4:00 pm

 

If you cannot make your specified time, please come at any other time slot on Saturday. 

 

For those who cannot attend on Saturday, a smaller skills-assessment will be held on Sunday, September 11th at  Liberty Jr. High as follows:

 

Girls      1:00 – 2:00 pm       2-6 grade

Boys       2:00 - 3:00 pm       1-4 grade

                3:00 - 4:00 pm       5-6 grade

Sign-ups for grades 7-8 will be held in November.

 

The TBird Basketball program invites players of all abilities to sign up. 

We will have  teams in athletic and competitive divisions in Cincinnati area basketball leagues.

 

Key Information:

·   Participation fee of $145 per player will be due at time of signups

·   Cash, check or major credit cards will be accepted (no Amex)

·   In-person attendance is required for uniform try-on and to run through gym drills

 

Boys & girls who are interested in signing up for a ThunderBird team are required to attend one of the skills assessment sessions.  All participating boys & girls should wear attire appropriate for playing basketball.  Do NOT bring a basketball.

There will be a Pre-season Coach's Meeting on Monday, August 29th in the Ridge Jr. High Cafeteria (6199 Beckett Ridge Blvd) from 7:30 - 8:30 pm.  Qualified coaches and individuals interested in coaching a team are asked to attend.  Key dates, player eligibility, team distributions, and other general information will be reviewed.

Thunderbird Flight Select Basketball

The Thunderbird basketball program is excited to kick off our 29th season with some significant changes to our select basketball program.  We’re excited to introduce our new enhanced select basketball program that will be called “Thunderbird Flight”.   This program is designed to support players with advanced skills who are looking to play against the best competition. Thunderbird Flight will support boys and girls teams from 3rd through 6th grade. Our program will include multiple practices per week, training sessions, 20 game schedule including tournaments and upgraded uniforms. 

We invite any player who feels that they are ready to play with the best players to come tryout for our program on August 27th.  Tryouts are at Lakota West High School (8940 Union Centre Blvd, West Chester Township, OH 45069); please plan to come during your specific grade:  

(We will not have a girl’s 3rd grade select team this year) 

Boys 3rd Grade from 9:00-10:30am                          

Boys 4th Grade from 9:00-10:30am

Girls 4th Grade from 9:00-10:30am                          

Boys 5th Grade from 11:00-12:30am

Girls 5th Grade from 11:00-12:30am                         

Boys 6th Grade from 1:00-2:30pm

Girls 6th Grade from 1:00-2:30pm

Players will need to register prior to tryouts, please arrive at least 30 minutes prior to your assigned time to sign up.  We will collect normal Thunderbird fees of $145 on this day.  If you decide not to participate with our program you will be refunded the fee less a $10 handling fee through 9/23/16. 

Any player who doesn’t make our Thunderbird Flight select program will have an option to play for a general Thunderbird team.  Any player who makes one of the select teams will be required to pay an additional fee to cover the incremental program. What to prepare for the 8/27 Tryouts?

 

 ·  Dress appropriate to play basketball

 ·  Arrive at Lakota West High School 30 minutes early to sign up

·   Bring a water bottle
